During the 2009 Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, Martin Fischer of the Center for Popular Music at Mid-Tennessee State University brought the equipment to record and play back wax cylinders. Traditional musicians Ginny Hawker and Tracy Schwarz volunteered for a recording session.
